Leif Johan Sevland to hand over ONS leadership in autumn 2027

Leif Johan Sevland, President and CEO of the ONS Foundation since 2012, has decided to hand over the leadership to a successor in autumn 2027. After many years in demanding leadership roles, he plans to reduce his workload while remaining active through his board commitments.

‍

Until the handover, Sevland will continue as President and CEO, working with the team to lay a solid foundation for ONS 2028.

‍

“Hard work pays off. Over the years, ONS has grown into a global energy forum held in high regard across every continent. We have gone from almost 90 speakers in 2012 to 1,400 in 2026, with experts coming to Stavanger from around the world to share their knowledge and explore solutions,” says Sevland.

‍

“ONS has never been stronger. We have thought differently, stayed ahead and shown courage in our choices. And we have an extraordinary ability to deliver on the goals we set. Next autumn, I will hand over an organisation in excellent shape to my successor,” he says.

‍

Ståle Tungesvik, Chair of the ONS Board, pays tribute to Sevland’s contribution to the organisation:

‍

“Leif Johan Sevland has played a decisive role in developing ONS into the global energy forum and meeting place it is today. As President and CEO, he has combined ambition, knowledge and international networks with an impressive ability to get things done. Under his leadership, ONS has brought together the full spectrum of the energy industry and strengthened its position as a forum for dialogue on energy, climate and geopolitics."

‍

“On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Leif Johan for his dedication and hard work. I look forward to continuing our close collaboration over the coming year,” says Tungesvik.

‍

The Board will begin the process of recruiting Sevland’s successor in early 2027.
