The ONS Board’s citation for the Award

The Board of ONS has the privilege of honouring individuals who have made an exceptional contribution through the presentation of the ONS Distinguished Service Award.

‍

This year, the ONS Board has chosen to present the award to a person who has made a significant contribution to both the Norwegian energy industry and the ONS Foundation.

‍

The recipient has been a strong and consistent voice for the importance of the energy industry and the need for stable and predictable framework conditions. At the same time, he has been a driving force for the industry’s transition and for greater collaboration to reduce CO2 emissions.

‍

After serving on several ONS committees, he became Chair of the Board of the ONS Foundation. He held that position for seven years, making him one of the longest-serving Chairs in ONS history.

‍

The recipient has also held a number of positions of trust across the energy industry, including several years as Chair of the Board of Offshore Norge. In addition, he played an important role in the development of the Energy Transition Norway cluster.

‍

His professional career was spent with Shell, culminating in the position of Managing Director of A/S Norske Shell, which he held until his retirement.

‍

The recipient fully meets the criteria for the ONS Distinguished Service Award.

‍

It is therefore a great honour to invite Tor Arnesen to join me on stage to receive ONS’ highest distinction, the ONS Distinguished Service Award.
