Egil Mollestad holds a MSc and a Ph.D. in structural engineering from the Norwegian Technical Institute in Trondheim, Norway. Dr. Mollestad started his professional career in Norwegian Contractors (NC) in 1983 as a specialist running numerical simulation for large offshore gravity based structures. Later on he became engineering manager and construction manager for several large platform projects. In 1993 Mollestad was appointed technical director of NC. He held this position he in 1996 took the position as CTO for the Norwegian EV manufacturer THINK. He has also been a business consultant for the world leading management consulting company Mc.Kinsey&Co. In THINK Mollestad was the head of the R&D division and the project manager for first two generations of the THINK City electric vehicle. For the last two years Dr. Mollestad has been CTO for ZEM. ZEM has taken over most of the research programs from THINK and also initiated a number of new programs. These are all focused on lithium batteries in automotive, stationary and marine applications. These programs have given deep insight into important factors for degradation of batteries and ZEM has together with research partners developed sophisticated degradation models. ZEM work closely with DNV on several of these research programs.
