Mr. Falk-Petersen was appointed CEO of Avinor in 2011. Previous top executive experience includes positions as Managing Director of CHC Helicopter Service and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of SAS Norway. He joined SAS as a commercial pilot in 1985, following 11 years as a fighter pilot, during which he also served as Flight Commander and Deputy Squadron Commander. In the period 1996-1998, he was Chairman of the Pilot Union of SAS, before being appointed Chief Pilot in 1999. He left SAS in 2009. Mr. Falk-Petersen has his educational background from the Royal Norwegian Air Force. Avinor is responsible for 44 state-owned airports as well as air navigation services for civilian and military aviation in Norway. This network links Norway together - and connects Norway to the world. Avinor is a driving force in reducing the combined greenhouse gas emissions from Norwegian aviation. The company has taken a leading role in developing a market for bio jet fuels and electric aviation. Every year Avinor contributes to safe and efficient travel for around 50 million airline passengers. Around half travel to and from Oslo airport.
