Chinese- Norwegian business relations- what now?

Beijing Energy Club, Selmer and ONS jointly hosted a partnership event on Chinese- Norwegian relations and business opportunities on November 14th.

As the diplomatic relations between China and Norway was normalised in 2016, business between the two countries has bloomed. And going forward, what are the opportunities for continues collaboration and business between the two countries?

Mr. Svein O. Sæther has been a Norwegian diplomat since 1975 and has been stationed as Ambassador in several countries, including being the Ambassador to China from 2007-2017.

There is now a bright future for Chinese- Norwegian relations. But an increased polarised world complicates the picture. We need to create a middle ground, said Sæther in the seminar.

Dr. Xavier Chen holds the role of President of the Beijing Energy Club- a Beijing-based high-level forum and think-tank on Chinese and global energy issues, that also facilitates and supports business relations between China and Norway. In the seminar, Dr. Chen pointed at the large business possibilities in China.

– Chinaś large market and consumption is an advantage for business. The country makes rapid decisions and has the flexibility to test new solutions, said Chen.

The seminar also had reflections on the Chinese energy market presented by Flex LNG and perspectives on Norwegian technical developments and possibilities presented by Fridjof Unander, Executive Director of The Norwegian Research Council.
