“I’m extremely excited about it, and honoured to be asked. It’s one of the biggest and most looked-forward-to conferences in the sector. I just really can’t wait to get on with it,” Knight says.
John Knight’s considerable experience will be of great benefit to the
ONS Conference Committee. He holds the position of Executive Vice President Global Strategy and Business Development and is also a member of Statoil’s corporate executive committee. Mr. Knight held several central managerial positions in International Operations in Statoil since 2002, mainly in business development.
“We are honoured that John Knight has accepted our request to chair the Conference Committee. ONS is currently focused on strengthening our position as a global meeting place. Mr. Knight has the international experience to help us to develop our conference and event in the right direction,” says Leif Johan Sevland,
Looks forward to debating important issues
John Knight has attended ONS on several occasions, and has experienced the effect of ONS as a meeting place.
“My overall impression is of a sort of hive and buzz of activity of people from all parts of the world, excitedly examining new developments. And of course, in the exhibition halls it’s very technically focused. What I look forward to with the conference is to combine this traditional technology focus with a greater understanding of the geopolitical, macro-economic and social-political challenges the industry is currently facing,” says Knight.
Regulations and policies, and the debate about the transition to a low carbon world will be important topics, according to Knight:
“All these things are going to be clearer in 2016, and I am really looking forward to debate those issues at ONS 2016.”
Statoil and ONS
Statoil was one of the founders of ONS, together with Stavanger City Council, the Norwegian Petroleum Society and Stavanger Forum, but has not chaired the Conference Committee for quite some years.
