‘Mega projects – mega opportunities’is the name of one of the parallel sessions on Monday 25 August. This session will focus on major upcoming projects that have huge potential – but also a set of complexities and challenges.

Hege Kverneland, Chief Technical Officer at National Oilwell Varco is one of the speakers in this session, and she will be covering the topic ‘Unconventional gas – the global game changer’.

“Shale gas is big in the USA due to the introduction of new technologies and solutions such as pad drilling and walking rigs, long horizontal wells and automation of the drilling process,” says Hege Kverneland.

She will talk about the opportunities and challenges involved in bringing the technologies and solutions linked to unconventional gas to the rest of the world.

“Shale gas is not only in the US. There’s Argentina, the UK, Poland, China… there are huge business opportunities in this segment,” Kverneland adds.

National Oilwell Varco (NOV) is involved in equipment, drilling, completion and in the production of shale gas.

“As we are an equipment manufacturer, shale is made for NOV,” she concludes.

Also contributing in the Mega projects session are Didrik Reymert from Shell, who will talk about the topic ‘The prelude FLNG’, and Geoff Parker from Exxon Mobil with the topic ‘Hebron and Sakhalin’.

The session starts at 14.15 on the opening day 25 August.
