ONS Conference Session: Financing the transition

Cash flow is key to a successful transition in the energy sector. In the conference session Financing the transition – presented by The HitecVision and Statoil – the investment strategy of different players will be debated among members of the industry.

One of the speakers is Douglas MacKenzie. He holds the position of Managing Director Head of Energy, London and EMEA, in Citigroup, which is a global financial services holding company, that engages in the provision of financial products and services to consumers, corporations, governments and institutions.

MacKenzie has almost thirty years of experience in the energy finance as both an investment banker and investor. He is a former head of Morgan Stanley’s Global Energy Group where he originated the “Super Major” concept and advised on many of the highest profile strategic transactions in the energy sector. MacKenzie has also advised numerous sovereign states and national oil companies including those of Saudi Arabia, Venezuela and China. He benefits from the perspective of an investor gained through both private equity and as manager of an energy hedge fund.

Working in different market segments, the speakers will contribute with various perspectives on oil and gas investment strategies.

“The world’s energy supply depends on the companies’ willingness to invest and develop resources. I look forward to the conference speakers’ reflections on the current global investment climate, oil and gas companies’ plans for future spending, the importance of private equity capital and to be updated on the on-going restructuring process of the offshore sector,” says Programme Director for ONS, Ingvild Meland.
