Oil pioneers are invited to the 40-year anniversary of ONS as special guests

When ONS celebrates its 40-year anniversary in August, they wish to honour some very special guests: the veterans whose hard work made the Norwegian oil adventure possible.

Thursday 28 August will be a historic day at ONS. The 40-year anniversary will be celebrated, and in a way that has never been done before. Because, while the pioneering leaders received their well-deserved recognition, there is another group that has seldom been honoured.

“We wish to invite those who offered their sweat and got their hands dirty, and in some cases risked their health, for the oil adventure. The guys on the shop floor who built the platforms, and those who worked offshore in the early years. We believe they deserve our thanks,” says the President and CEO of ONS, Leif Johan Sevland.

The target group for the event is those who worked in the yards and offshore in the oil industry up until 1985. In addition to a celebration with cakes and an exciting programme, the participants will be able to visit the exhibition.

Since there are no complete lists of their names and addresses, ONS contacted companies, unions and local branches for help in getting the invitations out.
