New exhibition hall ready for ONS 2010

The new ONS Hall M, covering a total of 4 000 square metres, has now been delivered to ONS partner Stavanger Forum.

As much as 2 500 m2 of the hall will be used as net exhibition space and the remainder as shared areas and walkways. According to ONS Exhibition Manager Petter Nystrøm, this is standard for the industry.

”It’s common for the major expos and exhibitions throughout the world to utilise between 60 and 65 per cent of their total hall area as exhibition space”, he explains.

Stavanger experienced a record cold winter, and our contractors have been working at full capacity to complete the hall in time for ONS. One of our suppliers took some short cuts that contravened our HSE standards and led to some comments in the local press.
We want to take this opportunity to assure our visitors that this work was carried out by subcontractors who were summarily dismissed from the project.

”We dedicate enormous resources to our HSE work, and I was on the point of despair when I heard that they couldn’t manage something as straightforward as securing themselves on a roof structure”, said Nystrøm to the local paper Rogalands Avis when they reported the incident.

Big plans for the hall
Nystrøm explains that the new hall will be administered by Stavanger Municipality. They will rebuild the hall, and it will eventually become a new ice rink and ice hockey arena. An underground parking facility will eventually be built below the hall with space for 360 cars.
