CCS at the Centre Court
The main components of the CO2 value chain (Carbon Capture, Transport and Storage/CCS) will all be covered on the agenda of the CCS segment of the Centre Court Conference during ONS week. Prominent speakers from various companies and organisations will focus on how CCS can contribute towards sustainable development and thus support the ONS main theme: “Energy for more people”.
The CCS Park’s Founding Father, Total, will present its Lacq Basin project in southern France, where CO2 is captured, transported and stored using new technology. Several companies and organisations will present possible technological solutions in the fields of CO2 capture. Others will focus on aspects of transportation, and there will be presentations and discussions about where and how CO2 can be stored securely and for the long term.
All in all the CCS Conference will showcase the challenges faced by the different technology communities, and how these CAN be met.

Renewable at the Centre Court
The ONS 2010 main theme “Energy for more people” will be the focus of the Centre Court opening session. The opening speech by Statkraft’s President and CEO Christian Rynning-Tønnesen will be followed by future insights and perspectives presented by Lyse Energi, Siemens and Statoil. Total will also contribute to this session.
Wednesday will be an important day for anyone interested in the renewable sector. We will kick off in the morning with a high-level seminar organised by Statkraft and dedicated to offshore wind technologies. Statkraft will present their ambitions to generate clean energy for more people through projects such as the Sheringham Shoal and Dogger Bank concessions and we will hear industry leaders elaborate on industry strategies and the challenges facing the sector. The offshore wind seminar will be followed by introductions to the enormous potential for wind, wave and tidal energy in the Asian and European markets, before we move on to presentations from ten exciting companies representing the innovators behind tomorrow’s renewable technology solutions.
We end the day with a “Renewable Reception” hosted by Lyse Energi, providing an ideal arena in which to develop and discuss business opportunities within the renewable energy sector. Prepare yourself for hot and lively debate on Thursday morning when we dive straight into the panel discussions. High-level politicians, industry leaders and technical specialists will discuss key issues such as offshore grid infrastructure, electrification of the Norwegian Continental Shelf, and the way ahead in terms of growth potential for the renewable sector.
