Closing Concert
Åge Aleksandersen – Norway’s answer to Bruce Springsteen – will be the main attraction at the closing concert of the ONS Festival at the downtown festival site. With the assistance of the Norwegian band Katzenjammer and guest artist Sivert Høyem, he will rock Stavanger on 26 August. The concert is free and open to all.
Åge Aleksandersen – Norway’s answer to Bruce Springsteen?
Åge Aleksandersen is a genuine rock musician whose almost 1.5 million sold albums are clear proof of his enormous popularity with the Norwegian people.
In 2006 Aleksandersen was appointed Knight First Class of the Order of St. Olav for his services to Norwegian music. He has won a number of awards and collaborated with many Norwegian and Nordic artists over the years. One of his most well-known songs “Lys og Varme” (Lys og varme) has become a Norwegian national treasure.
In 2009 he played to full houses all over the country and received brilliant reviews.
In Stavanger he will be accompanied by his particularly professional backing band, Sambandet. Together they will give the audience everything they could ask for, with songs the Norwegian press has described as “absolutely brilliant”.
Sivert Høyem
Åge’s guest artist will be the highly popular Norwegian rock singer, Sivert Høyem. Høyem was previously vocalist and leader of the band Madrugada, which achieved considerable international success.
Høyem and Aleksandersen, who have performed together several times in the past, combine to create a truly magical atmosphere on stage.
Katzenjammer
We have selected Katzenjammer to set the scene before the entry of the grand old man of Norwegian rock. These four young, talented female rock musicians have already made a career for themselves both in Norway and in Europe.
They play a wide range of instruments and perform with unmatched energy. Katzenjammer will also play at this year’s ONS opening concert.
We have great pleasure in welcoming these wonderful artists to Stavanger and we are sure the atmosphere at the harbour will be really fantastic.
