“Today’s energy issues are more complex and connected than ever. There are particularly three prominent challenges facing oil and gas companies. First, the competitiveness of our industry must improve for us to be competitive in the race for capital and talents. Second, we need to solve the dual challenge of meeting the world’s energy needs in a responsible manner, while addressing the climate challenge. Third, there are increased expectations of how big companies engage with communities through transparency, dialogue and responsibility,” Lund says.

He sees ONS as an important meeting place for the energy industry.

“Over many decades, the city of Stavanger and its surroundings have developed into a vibrant and internationally oriented area. During ONS this is particularly visible. ONS has become one of the most important meeting places of the global oil and gas industry. Governments, IOCs, NOCs, suppliers and stakeholders from around the globe come together to set out the way forward for the petroleum sector,” Lund concludes.
