CEO of Equinor Eldar Sætre to speak at ONS

Equinor changed its name from Statoil mid-May, reflecting its strategy to continue investing in oil and gas, while transforming into a broad energy company.

We are proud to welcome back Equinor’s CEO Eldar Sætre as our keynote speaker at the Opening Ceremony of the ONS 2018 Conference. Sætre will address the main theme of ONS 2018, Innovate. What will the future hold for the energy industry and what is Equinor’s role in this future?

“Our challenge is  to produce oil and gas with  a  low environmental footprint and  the  highest possible carbon efficiency. At the same time, we must also grasp the opportunities available in renewable energy as a new platform for industrial value creation,” Sætre says.

Companies in the oil and gas industry are shifting their business models to adjust towards a new market reality. Recently, Statoil announced that it was changing its name to reflect their views on people and energy:

“We’re becoming a broad energy company and need a name that’s relevant for our entire business, not just oil, especially if you bear in mind the future, with new energy forms and greater demands on carbon efficiency in production. That’s why it’s important for me as CEO to make sure we are as well equipped for the future as possible,” Sætre said about the change to the Equinor website.

Join us at the ONS Conference Monday 29 August to hear the Equinor CEO address the future landscape of the energy industry.
