Innovation Awards finalists 2018: Interwell and Solution Seeker
Interwell and Solution Seeker have been appointed finalists for the ONS 2018 Innovation Awards. Interwell has developed “Thermite P&A Barrier” an innovative and rig-less approach to well abandonment. Solution Seeker – an NTNU technology spin-off company – is nominated in the “small and medium enterprises” (SME) category for “ProductionCompass AI”, the world’s first artificial intelligence for upstream oil & gas production optimization. In a time when the intelligence community’s work is as vital as ever, the former Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the National Security Agency (NSA), General Michael Hayden has released a new book that highlights developments putting the American intelligence community at risk. At ONS 2018, Mr. Hayden will address the delicate balance between liberty and security in intelligence work, as well as the potential benefits and dangers associated with the cyber domain.
The ONS Opening Ceremony gathers executives from major E&P companies on the NCS, sustainability leaders, energy analysts and thought leaders – for a discussion on current energy perspectives and how the industry and society can meet future energy needs.

Seabox and Tomax have been selected finalists for the ONS 2018 Innovation Awards. Seabox is part of National Oilwell Varco’s Subsea Production System and has developed a highly innovative and complex subsea water treatment module. Tomax is nominated in the “small and medium enterprises” (SME) category for their technology “Afterburner” – the first ever rotary drilling tractor. More finalists will be announced soon.
Innovation Awards finalists 2018: Baker Hughes and ISPAS
We congratulate Baker Hughes, a GE company and ISPAS as the two first finalists to be nominated for the ONS 2018 Innovation Awards. Baker Hughes is nominated for the technology “TerrAdapt Adaptive Drill Bit” – the first and only smart bit that can adjust depth-of-cut control (DOCC) downhole, in real time, to optimize efficiency. ISPAS is nominated in the “small and medium enterprises” (SME) category, for their advanced oil-spill radar “New Generation OSD Radar”. More finalists will be announced soon.
